Murphysboro Township is responsible for three state-mandated functions:
1. Adminster a General Assistance program to qualifying residents
2. Maintain township roads and bridges
3. Appraise property values so that taxing bodies can determine their levies
The township also operates the Davis-McCann Center for rental to groups.
