Apple Festival

Always held the second weekend after Labor Day, this four-day event packs downtown Murphysboro with family-friendly activities, including free entertainment, carnival rides, pageants, concessions, a car show, and a menu of apple-themed treats.

St. patrick's Day Celebration

Held in March, the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration typically hosts an Annual 5k Walk/Run, Irish Stew Cookoff, Art Exhibit and Sale, Memorial Bike Ride, Parade, Kid’s Festival and Fire Truck Display. Check back for next year’s details!

Cruise Nights

Come join the fun in Murphysboro every first Saturday of every month from April through September with Murphysboro Cruise Night. Come strut your stuff by cruising downtown Murphysboro and show off your ride. They will have music, 50/50 drawings, give aways, free hot dog stand and the Apple of Our Eye award to the top car. Grab your family and friends and your lawn chairs and cruise into Murphysboro for a night of fun.

Community Flag Day Service

Worn flags to be retired can be brought in advance to the American Legion (North 16th and Gartside Streets) or the General Logan Museum.

Barbecue Cook off

Teams cook in one, two, or all three categories: whole hog, shoulders, and ribs. The Grand Champion wins the right to compete in Memphis in May for the World Championship, at the American Royal in Kansas City, and wins the title of the State of Illinois Championship.

Murphysboro is the home of the Apple City Barbeque Team who is a three-time World Champion (’90, ’92, and ’94) of the Memphis in May Bar-B-Que Cook-Off.
